Bambus
House

This is really the first publication. Perhaps the most difficult… There are so many things to say, but the hard part is getting started. Let’s start at the beginning, that is, thank you for visiting our page to see our local accommodations Bambus House Blue and Bambus House Green.

We hope you enjoy it, book one of them for your holidays and, by the way, also enjoy this blog.

A little of our history

Today we will start with the beginning of our history:

It was the summer of 1986, it was the middle of September. When we visit the family in Quarteira, we are interested in a plot of land with pines and cigarette holders that was for sale across the street. The goal was a family vacation home.

To call the street what existed then is an exaggeration. This was nothing more than a path covered with some small stone, torn by the previous owner in the piece of pine forest that was allocated. Only after a few years did the Parish Council negotiate the paving of the same with the residents.

First vacation

The deal was done, the projects were designed and calculated and, after obtaining city council licenses, work began in the first months of 1987.

That August, with the house still under construction, it was already possible, despite the few existing conditions and while the work was going on, we could use a room and the kitchen to spend almost a month on vacation.

On the 16th of that month, the water intake hole was drilled. This hole allowed the water supply to the house and to some others of the family and neighbors for several years. Piped water and basic sanitation did not yet exist. In short, it took many years and it took a lot of work to convince the City Council that these were some of the basic priorities that had yet to be resolved. So it was necessary for all residents of the area to come together. They organized themselves and put pressure on the Municipality so that it finally proceeded with the work.

Family

However, construction has progressed. However, it was not until the beginning of 1988 that the house came to be inhabited. However, some works abroad still continued a little later. Finally, what was intended to be the holiday home, became permanent housing for 20 years.

I haven’t said it yet, but almost all of the neighbors / owners, who bought the lots across the street, are either family or family.

And this was the beginning of the Algarve adventure. Life is a succession of small episodes and none of us knows, at the outset, the importance that a small gesture or decision will have in our future life. Good things and other not so good things happened from here, but the truth is that today we have two great local accommodations – Bambus House Blue and Bambus House Green -, with excellent conditions for us to welcome you on your vacation.
